About
If you're in Barcelona, particularly near the iconic Camp Nou, El Cargolet Picant is a destination that should be on your radar. Nestled at Carrer de la Riera Blanca, this vibrant eatery seamlessly blends authentic Spanish flavors with a welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant’s affordable prices make it an inviting choice for both locals and tourists craving some comfort food.
One of the standout features of El Cargolet Picant is their expansive menu, which offers anything from delectable tapas to traditional paella. Customers rave about the speed of service, with meals often arriving in just around seven minutes, ensuring that your hunger is swiftly satisfied. One visitor, Klára Ondrušová, highlighted the deliciousness and affordability of the dishes, making her eager for a return visit.
However, it’s not just the food that earns accolades; the atmosphere adds to the charm of the experience. With the restaurant often bustling with guests, it can be a challenge to grab the server’s attention, reflecting the popularity of the spot. While some reviews mention that the service could be slow during peak times, the vibrant energy around you makes it all worthwhile. After all, enjoying tapas while watching a game at Camp Nou is a quintessential Barcelona experience.
As for the tapas, they’re not to be missed. For €15.20, you can indulge in a generous platter meant for two, paired nicely with a refreshing pitcher of sangria—albeit, some have noted that the sangria lacks fruit. Still, the emphasis is clearly on the dishes that shine, particularly the patatas bravas and the famous paella, which Vinay H hints might be too hearty for just two to finish. Portions here do not skimp; they’re designed to share, so bring friends!
It’s important to note that while the staff may have limited English proficiency, their dedication to service shines through, as Lauren P’s experience reflects. The staff do their best to accommodate requests, demonstrating the welcoming spirit of Spanish hospitality.
Feeling adventurous? Dive into the diverse array of flavors at El Cargolet Picant. Come hungry and ready to indulge in authentic Spanish delights—you won't be disappointed!
“ The food was delicious (and affordable) and the overall service was just perfect. We waited for our meals for only 7 minutes-ish. Happy to come back! ”
“ Food was amazing and atmosphere was good. Service could have been faster but the restaurant didnt have a single seat open so it was understandable. ”
“ Place is next to camp nouv, place is good, watch out while ordering paella, even one portion of it difficult to complete by 2 persons. ”
“ El Cargolet Picant serves Tapas for two people for only €15-20. There were a lot of people in the restaurant and it was quite hard to get the server’s attention, so DO expect very slow service! I also got a pitcher of sangria alongside our Tapas; the funny thing was, it didn’t come with fruit, not sure if they forgot or it’s how they really make them. Despite that, I must say they make superb tapas. I’m a huge fan of les tigres (stuffed mussels) and they make an exceptional one here! Highly recommend coming here because it was such a popular and busy restaurant and I also didn’t see a lot of tourists which could mean it’s popular among the locals! ”
“ For €9 a starter, main, and desert. Paella for the starter was really delicious and enough food for a main, chips and salad for the main were bland but meat was delicious. Had sorbet for desert and it was also delicious. Staff couldn't speak any English but helped them as best they could. Would recommend visiting here ”
